We believe that your child’s introduction to sports should be in a low-pressure and minimally structured environment, MAYBE even getting the moms and dads on the court and field! With our outstanding instructors and exciting equipment, we provide several comfortable and engaging programs for your little ones to ease into sports of all sorts!

Junior Basketball League (Grades K-2)

The League is back. All players will be split up into different teams each week and will play a full court game. Coaches will stop the game periodically for instruction so all players have an understanding of the rules, teamwork and sportsmanship.

Grades K-2 will play on an 8.5 foot hoops.

All juniors will receive a Level Up reversible.

Who: Boys and Girls Grades K-2

A Level Up Hoops coach will work one-on-one with a player teaching them new skills while strengthening current ones.

Cost: $85 for one hour session or $800 for 10 one hour sessions

Small Group

Toddler Time

Looking for some weekday fun? Bring your toddlers to Starland, Monday through Friday between 9a-12p to participate in social or solo play with inflatables, sensory toys, soft-build structures, and more! Whether it’s a rainy day or your toddler just wants to get out of the house and play somewhere new, join us at Starland!

Who: Ages 1.5-5
When: Monday-Friday | 9AM-Noon
Cost: Single visits – $15 per child for unlimited play in Toddler Time area, $5.00 per additional child.

Children attending Toddler Time MUST be supervised by a responsible adult during play regardless of age and CANNOT be left unattended for any amount of time.

    Our facility is equipped with 8 multi-use hardwood spaces lined for basketball, volleyball, futsal, pickleball, events, and more!

    Full Court (2 hoops) – $80/hour

    Full Court (4 hoops) – $125/hour

    Half Court – $50/hour (bookable Monday-Friday, 9AM-3PM)

    1 Net (1 court) – $90/hour

    2 Nets (1 court) – $125/hour

    Weekdays:

    • 9A-3P: $50/hour per net
    • 3-11P: $85/hour for up to 3 nets

    Weekends:  $85/hour for up to 3 nets

    1 court – $90/hour

    If you cancel your rental…

    • 72+ hours in advance: 50% refund or 100% credit

      Protocols & Guidelines for COVID-19

      For Starland, safety has always been and will continue be our #1 priority. While COVID-19 presents an unprecedented challenge with regard to both guest and employee safety, we believe our focus on safety positions us well to deal with and execute protocols to create and maintain a safe environment for all.

      Starland has proudly been the heart of family entertainment in our south shore community since 1968. From basketball practice and soccer tournaments to mini golf first dates and laser tag birthday parties, we cherish every memory that’s been made over the last 50 years.

      We look forward to creating a safe, clean, and fun environment for our guests in the years to come. Read below for all of the latest COVID-19 protocols and guidelines we adhere to from local and state officials.

      What do I need to know?

      As of 5/31/21 – masks are optional inside and outside the facility.

      As of 5/31/21 – no restrictions required for capacity or activities, however we have chosen to continue to follow:

      • All indoor athletic fields and courts must be booked & paid for ahead of rental over the phone
      • No drop-ins allowed for courts or turf. Guest may call ahead to reserve: 781-996-3053
      • No day passes are being sold to manage capacity within the indoor/outdoor fun park.

      For all sports:

      • No drop-ins allowed. Guests may call ahead to reserve court or turf.
      • Water fountains remain closed
      • Bleachers will not return to the court for the foreseeable future. You are more than welcome to bring a folding chair.

      1. Decreased guest density in our Fun Park and Sportsplex allows every guest to adhere to physical distancing of 6 feet
      2. Increased frequency of cleaning & disinfecting in high-contact areas using new electrostatic disinfection cleaners
      3. Employee temperature screening and mandatory PPE. Starland staff are encouraged to observe good personal hygiene, stay home if they are feeling sick, and alert managers to any guests that are in need of assistance.

      Our new outdoor patio & beer garden is open Saturday & Sunday (12-close). The patio can be found outside the concession stand near the drop-off/pick-up circle. Now serving up homemade fried pickles, pretzels, nachos, angus burgers, thick-cut bacon, & so much more! Pair your meal with one of our handcrafted cocktails, local selection of beer, or a spiked seltzer.

      The upstairs restaurant is temporarily closed for renovations – we can’t wait to share what it looks like in March 2022! 🙂

        SPRING 2025 TRYOUTS

        All tryouts are held at Starland Sportsplex 637 Washington, St Hanover, MA. The tryout fee is $35 and covers both tryouts. For coaches to get the most accurate evaluation, players are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to come to BOTH tryouts.

        Thanksgiving Classic 

        The Thanksgiving Classic is back! This town/travel tournament is a great way for you to see where your team is at before the regular season tips-off in December. Each team is guaranteed 3 games. AAU teams must play a grade up. Two certified IAABO officials will be provided for each game. Each team will be responsible for supplying a person to do the book/clock.

        The Starland Winter Basketball League for 3rd graders only. Each team will play in 8 regular season games plus playoff games. There will be no games on the following dates: No games 1/4, 1/5, 1/12, 1/18, 1/19,1/26

        Certified IAABO officials provided for each game (One official for Grades 3 & 4). Each team will be responsible for providing someone to do the clock and the book.

        Skills Week with Coach Crawford

        This week-long, skill-based clinic will focus on improving and bolstering players’ basketball technique with Coach Crawford! Coach Crawford is the program director for Level Up Hoops, the assistant coach for Quincy College Basketball, the head coach for the 16U ZGXL Level Up Hoops team, and a personal skills trainer for some of the best players on the South Shore of Massachusetts and beyond. He has worked with countless of college players on their development and has a wide array of knowledge and expertise to teach young basketball players in this clinic.

        Junior Hoopers( Grades 2-3) 5-6pm

        Come learn the game of basketball in a fun environment! This 7-week long program will consist of games and skill work that will work on developing and improving players’ IQ and overall skill. Skill work will involve the fundamentals of dribbling, passing, and shooting. This clinic is geared towards players who are looking to build their passion for the game. This is a great way to focus on the fundamentals and fine-tune their skills while having some fun. In this clinic, players will learn to play basketball the right way. We will focus on skills and drills while also doing competitions and some gameplay as well. Hoops will be lowered to  7.5ft to 8ft.

        Shooters Shoot Clinic

        Knock the rust off your shot with this shooting clinic! This clinic is strictly shooting…no ball handling…no defense…all SHOOTING and nothing but SHOOTING! Come learn a variety of game shooting drills to improve & develop more confidence in your shooting. The Shooting Clinic will run for 7 weeks. All athletes will have access to Starland’s very own Dr. Dish shooting machine during this clinic.

        Our Point Guard Academy is where aspiring basketball players take their skills to the next level! Our clinic is dedicated to developing the essential skills, basketball IQ, and leadership qualities that define a successful point guard.

        At Point Guard Academy, we offer specialized training focusing on ball handling, passing, attacking the basket, finishing, PNR work shooting, and defensive techniques.

        Back to Basics

        This clinic is geared towards young athletes who are passionate about basketball and want to sharpen their skills. Back to Basics is very fundamental, and its purpose is to enforce proper mechanics and provide each individual with an understanding of how to practice and get better on their own. This is a great way to help create new habits and explore different ways to improve your game. Some Fundamentals that will be worked on throughout the duration of the clinic:

        • Ball handling drills that you can work on at home to become more confident with the ball.
        • Proper shooting technique.
        • Passing and catching skills.
        • How to box out your opponent and grab a rebound.
        • Defensive stance and movements.
        • Sportsmanship.
        • How to be a good teammate.
        • Basic 3 on 3 basketball strategy.

        Shooting Academy

        Come join THE SHOOTING ACADEMY. This is for serious athletes wanting to elevate their shooting skills. We will be focused solely on shooting allowing participants to hone their techniques and gain confidence in their shot.

        Players will engage but are not limited to:

        Form Shooting

        Spot shooting

        Off the dribble shooting

        Catch and Shoot

        Each player will keep track of their shots that they take and make allowing for personal accountability and progress tracking.

        All athletes will have access to Starland’s very own Dr Dish shooting machine during this clinic.

        Starland Summer League (Largest Summer League on the South Shore!)

        Join the largest Summer basketball league on the South Shore and enjoy playing in an air-conditioned facility this upcoming season! After the game, enjoy a drink or some food at our new restaurant/bar, hang out at the outdoor amusement park, or have fun with our indoor attractions – there is something for everyone!

        Each game will consist of 10-minute quarters (6th grade – Varsity) or 20-minute halves (3rd – 5th Grade) with running time. One parent from each team will be required to operate the scoreboard and fill out the scoresheet. Each game will have two certified IAABO officials. Game days are Sunday – Thursday, and games will start 4:30pm-10pm Monday – Thursday and 10am-8pm Sundays.

        Teams are scheduled to play 8 games with additional playoff games. Games consist of 4, 10 minutes quarters with running time. Two certified IAABO officials and a scorekeeper will be supplied for each game. Games begin at either 9PM or 9:50PM. The majority of games to be played on Wednesday night. Remember this is the recreational league, our competitive league is on Thursday nights. The format will be as follows:

        Playoff Bracket is determined by number of teams registered:

        12 teams = top 8 teams make playoffs, bottom 4 teams eliminated

        10 teams = top 8 teams make playoffs, bottom 2 teams eliminated

        8 teams = All teams make playoffs

        ***CANCELED/FORFEITED GAMES ARE NOT RESCHEDULED***

        Who: Men 18+

        When: Wednesday Nights 9pm 10PM

        12 teams = top 8 teams make playoffs, bottom 4 teams eliminated

        10 teams = top 8 teams make playoffs, bottom 2 teams eliminated

        8 teams = All teams make playoffs

        Women’s 18+ Summer Basketball League

        Teams are scheduled to play 8 games with additional playoff games for those who make it. Games consist of four 10-minute quarters with running time. Two certified IAABO officials and a scorekeeper will be provided for each game.

        Teams MUST HAVE uniforms with numbers in order to play. We have uniforms available to purchase through Starland- contact jazz@starlandsports.com
