Youth Basketball Clinics & Camps

Fall Session II

Learn basic basketball skills and how to work as a team with Coach Stinchfield. Each hour-long session will consist of skill work and games on 5-foot hoops with 45 minutes of basketball and 15 minutes in our Toddler Time Play Area.

Who: ages 3-6

When: Monday 10am – 11am or 1pm – 2pm

Beginner’s Academy – Winter Session I

Come learn the game of basketball in a fun environment! Practices will consist of games and skill work that will gauge your beginner’s interest in basketball. Skill work will involve the fundamentals of dribbling, passing, and shooting while also incorporating teamwork and sportsmanship. All beginner players will receive their own reversible Supernova basketball jersey with a number!

Who: Grades K-2 | Grades 2-4

When: Tuesdays, 4-5PM (Grades K-2)  |  5-6PM (Grades 2-4)

Elite Academy – Winter Session I

This is for athletes that already have a foundation (proper layup footwork, shooting mechanics, and passing mechanics) of basketball. Practices will include defensive mechanics, basketball IQ, shooting off the catch, shooting off the dribble, and attacking the basket while working on the concept of teamwork. All Elite players will receive their own Supernova reversible jersey.

Who: Grades 2-4

When: Thursdays, 4:30-6PM

Dates: Jan 2 – Feb 20 (7 practices; no practice Jan 16)

Girl’s Academy

Youth Boot Camp (Prep for Winter Travel)

Get a step ahead of your opponent in this 5 session action packed winter travel prep. We will focus on conditioning, shooting, defense, and footwork. Improve your game before the season begins! Limited to 20 spots.

Hard to Guard Winter Break Clinic

Don’t let the break from school prevent you from sharpening your basketball skills! Our clinic will focus on attacking and finishing at the basket, shooting off the catch, and shooting off the dribble. Each camper will receive a Supernova “Hard to Guard” t-shirt.

Sunday Night Shooting School

Good basketball players need to score! This clinic will focus on: shooting off the dribble, shooting off the catch, attacking the basket, and more. Drills will be high intensity and fast paced. Become a better shooter with us!

Basketball Boot Camp – Final Prep

Looking to get ready for High School Basketball tryouts? This boot camp clinic will be filled with action-packed, high intensity workouts. Focus will be on conditioning, ball handling, shooting and live scrimmaging and run like a real high school tryout to give you the advantage for December tryouts!

Who: Grades 9-12 (girls and boys division — not co-ed)

Club, Leagues, and Tournament Basketball


The Panther Thanksgiving Classic is back for its 3rd year! Last year we had over 130 teams from all over the South Shore and the Cape! Teams will play 3 pool games at the Starland Sportsplex & Fun Park. Each game will consist of two 16-minute halves. 2 Certified IAABO officials and scorekeeper provided for each game. Standings and Schedule will be accessible via the TourneyMachine App.

Top teams will advance to bracket play. Town and travel teams only. Games will be played on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Schedule requests accommodated within reason.

Who: Town & travel teams  |  Skill levels A/B/C

When: Nov 29  |  Nov 30  |  Dec 1

Cost: $235/team ($225 for 3+ teams  |  $205 for 10+ teams)

Program & Coaching Philosophy

At Starland Supernova, we aim to provide a fun and safe environment for youth to play basketball. Our program is based around the quality of our coaches, most of which have high school and/or college coaching experience. Every coach adheres to the following set of rules that we believe helps to create the foundation for every basketball player:

Cost to play Supernova Basketball in the Fall

While the price varies throughout the season, you can expect to pay between $450 to $700 for the fall season. This cost includes tournament entries, uniform, weekly skill sessions and twice a week team practices from September through mid-November. Once the tryout are completed for your age group, if selected your designated coach will provide spring costs.

Tournament Selection in the Spring/Fall

Coaches are given a list of potential tournaments to choose from, most within an hour drive of Starland. In the fall you can expect to play in 4-7 events over the course of 10 weeks starting mid-September and running through mid-November.

Heath “Noopy” Teixeira is our 6th Grade Girl’s coach. His basketball career spans over 30 years in a variety of roles including player, scout, recruitment, player development, trainer, management, assistant and head coaching. Whether K-12, travel leagues, AAU, college, clinics, combines, professional (PBL, NBL & ABA), or international basketball, the goal of developing athletes to work to their full potential both on and off the court are his priorities. In his efforts with young athletes, together they work to improve skills, deepen understanding of the game, and to set clear goals.

Brian J. Greenwood is our Varsity Girls Coach. Brian has been playing, teaching and coaching basketball for over 40 years. An accomplished athlete, Brian played basketball in high school, college and in Ireland. Brian is a skills instructor for Breakthrough Basketball, an international organization providing intense, high level training, skills instruction and resources for players, coaches and parents all over the world.

Brian takes a games versus traditional approach to coaching basketball. He emphasizes Zero Seconds-Basketball Decision Training (BDT). Mind training which bridges the gap between skills training and game application. His players learn ballhandling, shooting and decision-making skills in a random, game like environment which increases their enjoyment, retention and transfer helping them become more complete and effective basketball players.

Brett Stinchfield is the coach for our 3rd, 4th, and 9th grade boys teams. He has been coaching for Starland for 3 years. He played at East Bridgewater High School and has a degree in Sport Management from UMass-Amherst. While at UMass, he was a student manager for the UMass Men’s Basketball team and the UMass Football team where he worked closely with head coach’s Derrek Kellogg and Mark Whipple helping shape his coaching style he uses today. He is currently the Freshmen Basketball Coach at Marshfield High School.

Adult Basketball Programs


Winter Session

Each game will have 2 certified officials and a scorekeeper. Each team is guaranteed 8 games and are required to provide their own jerseys for the game. Jerseys must be the same color and have a number on the back. Games will be have two 20-minute halves with running time. The last 2 minutes of each half will be stopped time. Champions will be given a gift certificate to our bar & restaurant, The Draft on 53, and t-shirts.

Who: Men 30+ (no exceptions)

When: Monday nights

Dates: Nov 18 – Jan 13 (end date may vary based on uneven divisions)

Cost: $700 team fee — limited to 12 teams

Winter Session

Each game will have 2 certified officials and a scorekeeper. Each team will play 7 regular season games. All teams advance to playoffs. Teams are required to provide their own jerseys for the game. Games will be have two 20-minute halves with running time. The last 2 minutes of each half will be stopped time.

Who: Men 18+  (no high school teams)

When: Thursday nights between 7-10PM

Dates: Jan. 2 – Feb. 27

Team Fee: $750 (Jerseys NOT Provided)

Free Agent Fee: $125 (Jerseys Provided)

Each game will have 2 certified IAABO officials and a scorekeeper. Each team is guaranteed 8 games and are required to provide their own jerseys. Jerseys must be the same color and have a number on the back. Free Agents will receive a game shirt. Games will be have two 20-minute halves with running time. The last 2 minutes of each half will be stopped time.

Who: Women ages 18 and older (no high school teams)

When: Wednesdays

Dates: Oct 23 – Dec 18

Cost: $700 (team fee) or $100 (free agent)
