Academy

WHEN: Tuesdays, July 10th – August 28th

TIMES: K-1st (4-5PM). 2nd-4th (5-6PM)

SKILL LEVEL: Beginner

GRADES: K-4

COST: $139 ($109 before 6/29)

ACADEMY DESCRIPTION: Our program is designed to develop basic fundamentals and an understanding of the game.  Skills to be demonstrated include:  ball handling, shooting form, triple threat, balance, follow through, team work and proper release.

ACADEMY OVERVIEW: Instructed by one of our Supernova AAU Basketball . Our coaches will help each player create a solid basketball foundation while also giving everyone areas to work on at home. Course will include skills, drills, and scrimmages. There will be 8 sessions in total.

League

WHEN: Sundays, July 8th – August 26th

TIMES: 6:30PM (k-2); 7:20PM (3rd/4th)

SKILL LEVEL: Beginner/Intermediate

GRADES: K-4

Cost: $129 ($109 before 6/29)

LEAGUE DESCRIPTION: The Summer Junior Basketball League aims to create a competitive atmosphere to learn the game of basketball. Games will be 5 v 5 and will be instructed by one of our coaches/officials. All games will be played on Sunday nights and will be played on hoops with height adjustments based on player’s ability levels. The 6:30 session will be played p 8.5 foot hoops. The 7:20 session will be played on regulation 10-foot hoops.

LEAGUE OVERVIEW: Our coach/official will make sure each player learns and understands the game of basketball and understands the concept of teamwork. Please not that coaches will not focus on individual skill development. There will be 8 games total. There will be no games Easter Sunday.

ELITE

WHEN: Thursdays, July 12th – August 30th

TIMES: 4:30-6PM

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate/ELITE

GRADES: 2-4

Cost: $149

CLINIC DESCRIPTION: Junior Basketball ELITE aims to provide a challenging environment for juniors. This is not a beginner level course. Players must have some foundation in dribbling and shooting and be able to shoot on a 10 foot hoop. Instructed by Brett Stinchfield, Coach Stinchfield will focus on improving ball handling, basketball IQ, defense, and shooting.

Meet the coach…

Coach Stinchfield has been coaching AAU for Starland for 2 years. He played at East Bridgewater High School and has a degree in Sport Management from UMass-Amherst. While at UMass, he was a student manager for the UMass Men’s Basketball team where he worked closely with the head coaches helping shape his coaching style he uses today. He is currently the Freshmen Basketball Coach at Plymouth South High School.
